The trade-off
Every platform costs you something.
You are renting. There is a monthly platform fee on top of the build, transaction fees unless you use Shopify Payments, and the store cannot be moved to another platform without rebuilding it. For a shop that is usually the right trade; for a brochure site with three products it is not.
Suits: Businesses where selling online IS the business, and catalogues big enough that the platform fee is noise.

What does Shopify itself cost?
Shopify charges its own monthly platform fee and takes a transaction cut unless you use Shopify Payments. That goes to Shopify, not to us, and it is not in our build price. We will tell you which plan the store actually needs rather than the one with the best margin.
What does a Shopify site cost?
The same as any other site we build: $500 ex GST for up to three pages, $1,000 for up to ten, $2,500 for up to twenty-five. Platform subscriptions, where the platform charges one, are paid by you directly to them and are not part of our price. Full pricing.
Can you move an existing site onto Shopify?
Usually. What matters is where the content and the URLs are now, because a migration that changes every URL without redirecting them throws away whatever search visibility the old site had. We check that first and tell you what it will cost to keep.
Who looks after it afterwards?
We do, if you want us to. Hosting, updates, backups and someone to call are part of what we quote rather than an upsell at handover. Seventeen sites are on that arrangement now.
